LinkedIn and Facebook go beyond US paranoid imperialism
During my recent trip to Iran, I couldn't connect to LinkedIn. Returning to France, I asked the LinkedIn customer service about any technical issue.
After invoking some evasive cookies or computer settings problems, they finally confessed the truth: they simply zealously apply their own sanctions to Iran, preventing Iranians to get in touch with their collogues in the "democratic world".
I was told before going there that Iran was failing to allow free speech in the country, baring Facebook users to connect to their preferred social network.
Very few noticed that US was actually the free speech offender toward the "Axis of Evil", still in the deep beliefs of US leadership set by the un regretted G.W.Bush.
I just learned that there might be some incentive to companies like LinkedIn to act cowardly and that US free-speech-keepers begin to realize their stupidity.
Not sure this will help to counter the growing consciousness of the desperate abuse of power of the last Empire

Dear Jean,
The U.S. Government has in place export control and economic sanctions laws and regulations, which prohibit U.S. companies, like LinkedIn, from engaging in certain transactions with persons from several designated countries, including Iran.
It is LinkedIn's corporate policy to comply with laws and regulations of the United States and other countries where we do business. Failure to comply with U.S. export control and economic sanctions laws and regulations can result in criminal and civil fines and penalties, for both the Company and any individuals involved.
Sincerely,
LinkedIn Privacy Team

I am no longer in Iran, and cannot check.
However, I tried with 3 different computers, including mine which does not experience any issue in France, from at least 3 differents internet access providers, giving the same results.
This apparently look like a blockage from either LinkedIn preventing Iranian users to connect (as you have done a year ago with Syria) or the Iranian authorities willing to isolate Iranians from such social services.
Please check if any restrictions apply to the LinedIn
side.
Thanks
